Hi Komal! I live on the Stockwell Gdns Est., where nothing much seems to be happening. (Correct me if I'm wrong, please.) Did you get any feedback regarding the residents' involvment? Hi, im stephen from the camberwell area, i have been a resident there for under 1 year, and seem to have many problems, i have lots of ideas of how the sites could be improved, costing residents like myself less - and less for hyde homes and their budget. But no-one seems to care. my second report of flat damage has gone in, and no problems ever resolved due to your budget. But three main problems - heating, water, air circulation..would like to here your views on this please?

HYDE POLICIES INFORMATION.

I'm trying to find out if Hyde produce any information booklets on their policies. Such as. If a tenant wants to make improvements to their property, at their own cost?? Such as having a conservatory. Putting in French doors by replacing a window. Putting a porch on. Etc. Etc.I can't find any information at all. "Just a surveyor, has to decide". Some, guidlines would help!! Also, how do you find out information on planned works?? Such as, upgrading heating systems. IE. Replacing storage heaters? Again, I can find no information about this.

Some grants are available. Your Housing Officer may be able to advise?? A survey has to be carried out to see if a property is suitable for cavity wall insulation. It is harder to find a grant for housing ass., properties, for some reason. They seem to be readily available for council and private tenants. if, you are on certain benefits, it can be done for free

Do Hyde offer a Downsizing scheme ???

I too am interested in downsizing. I didn't get much info or help. when I asked my Housing officer! I want to go somewhere very rural. probably, a hard to rent property. You'd think they'd want my large 3 bed house for a family.I've been looking on the homeswap sites for ages! That seems the ONLY option. Any empty properties have to be bid for. I think the old system, worked better!

Hi sdkb,
We received a reply from the Kent Homechoice about the website following your query.
They confirmed that it is not currently possible to search only for tenants who are only looking for the same property that you have i.e. maisonette. However, Locata, who run the site are enhancing this functionality very shortly so that you can. You should have access to this new and improved search function in the next month or so.

Hi,
Just wanted some advice on a not very black and white situation.
My parents live in a flat and my neighbour below us has complained about excessive noise. In our flat we have 2 retired OAP parents, my teenage sister and occasionally my 2 year old who stays over. The type of excessive noise we're talking about are flooring types (i.e. furniture moving, walking, child jumping etc) and not TV/music noise. I've actually went down to my neighbour's house and confirmed myself that normal walking is audible so I can see why a child's footstep would be quite bad for them.
To make the matter's worse my neighbour sleeps at 8 and our family sleeps around 11.
We've tried some step's to reduce the noise - ie laid down mats in play area, stuck cushions on legs of furniture, ban flip-flops at home, adjusted our walking habits etc and not only it didn't help and we've since had 2 anti-social behaviour warning from Hyde.
I've talked to my neighbour about it and they still intend to seek action, which is understandable, but I've exhausted all I can do. Even if I ban my daughter from visiting the grandparents, their normal living actions would still cause 'excessive noise'. My dad has advanced cancer and will be in crutches/wheelchair in a few years time it'll be this all over again. My neighbour seems to think as long as they can kick us out everything will be nice and quiet again.
What can we do? edited by timmy on 18/01/2012

Thanks for that Sarah. I have now been able to log in, I got my email a few days ago to say that it had been approved.
One thing I was hoping, after being able to log in, is to be able to search for tenant swaps with those people who are looking for the type of accommodation that you have available to swap. This isn't the case, so I am literally left to go back and forth through pages of people looking for swaps which I not relevant to me because they do not want a one bedroom maisonette on the outskirts of London.
I went through about 200 of the latest adverts, you cant open them in a new window or tab so you have to keep clicking the back button on your browser and finding where you left off. I have to say I spent about 2 hours on there looking and not one advert I looked at was after a one bedroom maisonette. It is far too time consuming to be useful to me in looking for a swap. I feel quite disappointed about it.

On 29th January i will be holding a charity event for Riley to raise money for Moebius Syndrome Awareness Day! As you all know this is a disability that Riley has and it is very rare so they cant yet start research until they reach their £250,000 target
Moebius syndrome is a rare neurological disorder that is present at birth. It primarily affects the 6th and 7th cranial nerves, leaving those with the condition unable to move their faces (they can’t smile, frown, suck, grimace or blink their eyes) and unable to move their eyes laterally. Other cranial nerves may be affected, especially the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 9th, 10th and 12th. There may be skeletal involvement causing hand/feet anomalies and/or club feet. Respiratory problems, speech and swallowing disorders, visual impairments, sensory integration dysfunction, sleep disorders, and weak upper body strength may also be present. Approximately 30% of children with Moebius syndrome are on the autism spectrum.

kenthomchoice still won't let me login, it says it is pending my landlord approval. So who has to approve it Sarah, Hyde or Roundshaw homes?

Hi sdkb,
I'm just posting with an update about house exchange services in West Sussex area.
You can apply to join a register of local authorities in the West Sussex area, depending on which area you wish to go to. Some local authorities do expect you to have a local connection with the area (e.g. currently live or work in the area). If you don't have a connection then you may have lower priority than others.
In some areas there is also the option to apply online as well as by written form - it is worth checking the local authority websites for further information.
There is a choice based lettings scheme running in Sussex called Sussex Homemove. All details can be found online at: www.homemove.org.uk
Thanks, Sarah

Do Hyde offer a Downsizing scheme ???

Hi alfadais,
Sorry for the delay, I have found out about your query.
Hyde does run a scheme for downsizing. The best option is to contact your local office to discuss this with your housing officer.
Your local office will be able to advise as to what options are available to you for downsizing. They will also be able to inform you of any other schemes available for downsizing that may be run by your local authority or other agencies.
I hope this helps with your question?
Thanks, Sarah

I registered for kenthomchoice but my login is not sorted yet. I did it last week and when I log in to it now it says my landlord has to approve my registration details. So I am still waiting for that to happen.

thanks for your support sarah, i received a call this morning from the ASB team, and there's not really alot they can do as the last incident was 11 months ago, and are still awaiting police reports regarding this recent matter. i will however let other neighbours know about the focus group discussions as i'm sure a few of them will be interested in this. thanks again
