WILL YOU AGE LIKE YOUR MOTHER I am looking for a woman in her 20s or 30s and her mother to have both their photographs taken by the magazine. The pics will then be given to experts to discuss ways they can hold back their ageing. The mother and daughter will also be interviewed about their lifestyles. This might be a regular mum and daughter or a celebrity and her mother or daughter. If you'd like to participate, please send us a few lines about you and your mum's lifestyles as well as your ages with snapshots, letting us know if you're happy to be photographed and I'll get back to you asap. For a new lifestyle and TV magazine with the Sun launching In early September and replacing Sun TV mag - out on Saturdays with the paper. It's a multi-million pound launch with millions in readership. Email anna@annamagee.com

moving to a bigger property due to having a baby

Hi raymond76,
First of all, congratualtions to you and your partner for your good news!
You don't give any information about what area you live in, and how big the current property is. I appreciate that it may be more difficult to deal with the upheaval of moving after the child is born.
However the criteria for consideration of a transfer to larger accommodation for extra bedroom under the Associations Policy is that:
Applications will not be accepted from pregnant mothers requesting larger accommodation until the child is born
In the meantime you can do the following to try to affect a move:
- Register with the Local Authority and commence bidding through Choice Based Lettings (CBL)
- Register and seek a move through a mutual exchange. Hyde participates in 2 schemes which are free to residents: House exchange and Homeswapper. They are both online services.
(You mentioned the exchange website was useless to you, but not which one you tried - maybe you'll have better luck with the other one.)
There are good reasons behind the existence of policies such as this - they have been decided upon in order to provide the best service possible to the largest number of people. Your Housing Officer should have more information about this and be able to help you out.

Looking for friendship case studies for magazine

Looking for case studies for a feature on enduring friendship for Candis magazine; a subscription-only publication with a circulation of 300,000. Candis is unique, in that it gives some of its profits to charity (eg, Marie Curie Cancer Care, Children's Hospices UK). The feature is called 'friends for life' and looks at how best friends stick together through thick and thin; never judging but always supporting each other. I am specifically looking for an age-gap friendship (eg, someone of retirement age being good friends with someone at least 20 years younger); and a platonic friendship between a man and a woman (aged 30-60). How have you shared life's ups and downs together? How have you supported each other? What do other people think of your friendship? I will need to interview you by phone (should only take 20 minutes maximum), and we will need to photograph you together - but we will send the photographer direct to you, so no travelling involved. Question about Anti social behaviour?
 paulc Posts: 1

Hi Gemma,
If you look on your local authority's website, they should have some information about their local procedures for reporting anti-social behaviour. I empathise with you having a young baby and the sleep deprivation that comes with that alone, never mind the neighbours.
DIY at 'unreasonable' hours is classed as "statutory noise pollution" so if it can be proved, the neighbour's landlord and local authority have duties to control this. The term "unreasonable" is unhelpful but I think with the times you have stated, it's a good case. (By the way, if the neighbour tries a counter-attack like complaining about a crying baby, the noise from a crying baby, although annoying, is not a statutory nuisance.)
You need to note down everything so far, with dates and times. In particular, note down the times you have approached the neighbour. Since this doesn't seem to work, ask for assistance from the landlord and Council's environmental health department, using your diary notes to support your case. Also investigate if there is a Mediation service available in your area - some Councils insist on using this first anyway. If the neighbour refuses to participate (it's voluntary), it would add weight to your case that they are being unreasonable.
If there is any pattern to the noise, the Council might be able to install a recorder in your home to capture it.
I hope you get somewhere with it and good luck! edited by paulc on 6/15/2010

Thanks to all those that have given us their comments, here are a couple of things we've done at your request:
- Made more local information available
- Made the map bigger on the front page
- Included a brief description of the library section
The form is still available and we are still reading the comments, so if you would like to make a suggestion it's not too late!

dear all, i moved into a one bed apartment in october 09. that same night the anti social behaviour started. i went thru three and a half months of it. i went to hyde for help. they did nothing, the housing officer was useless and procedures were not followed and i suffered. i ended up getting very ill and had to leave my job this year in march 10. back in december 09 my hosing officer came for a 12 week visit, i pointed out that i felt intimidated and scared and i asked if i could get a pet, and seeing that neighbours also had pets which i pointed out, he said that it was ok and as long as other residents had no problems, then hyde would turn a blind eye. those were his words. i got a dog at xmas and he has been a joy and has helped me thru some hard times lately. then a new housing officer sprung up and told me i had to get rid of the dog as i had no written permission. my world started to collapse and its just getting worse. 23hyde have showed that they have no compassion, or understanding of this very special case. i am disabled by mental health issues and they continue to push me and push me, responding to letters but conveniently not answering important questions i put to them., i am seeking legal advice and i am going to fight hyde til the end. why should i move when the a.s.b person is getting away scott free. why are they not listeniong to me. there is too much evidence in my diary of failing by hyde i have no choice but to fight for whats right.

Many of you will have found the sections relating to local information by clicking on the UK map from the homepage.
We are planning to change these local sections to make them more useful and interesting. We'd like to make them as relevant as possible by asking the users what they want out of these sections.
So what would you like to see? What would be most / least useful? What is good / bad about the existing set-up?

Overall I am a satisified resident. I think HydeMartlet listen to their residents and generally are quick to act. However, the biggest problem is communication but I believe this is being addressed so hopefully things will be even better. On the resident involvement side, really hoping that with Julia on board and a new structure in place, resident involvement will improve.
