Hi Drummerboy, so sorry to hear your not having a great time at the moment especially with the new phone systems, the shared call centre was born because we the residents asked for it,i remember attending a focus group meeting and this shared cente was the main item on the agenda,we wanted a centre that can deal with our calls on the first call first time.As for local meetings they are arranged with your local office and the group dont always know they are going on, my name is Lee and i chair the Hydewide residents voice and i will take your feedback back for you and your neighbour, but just on the point about mobiles Hyde offer a freephone number but its not free from any mobiles something a lot of people dont know.i do however share your concerns about things going eletroinic you can never replace the good old fashioned conversation face to face.

Hi...Where do I start !...I became involved with Hyde 7 years ago when I became a tenant in a brand new residence housing just 12 flats. After experiencing 11 broken windows in 9 months and full and total abuse from the local kids in my ground floor flat....this was eventually resolved one night when the father of one of the kids decided to back-up his child in the event of egging my windows for the second time that night...he came running at me with a large knife....fortunately I had taken digital photos of this, and handed them to the police. The family were evicted and since then...all is much quiet now...If you suffer from outside abuse then you need to work with not only Hyde but also the police and report everything that happens straight-away( get a report number and file it). Also working for the local council will be a dedicated A.B.S.O. lawyer/solicitor who will work with you and guide you ....you need all these people to get a conviction....it will work. When I joined Hyde it was under the C.D.H.A. flag, who were just a fantastic (small) organisation...you could phone any staff direct and get through immediately....resolving a problem or repairing a fault was done within a day or two. There was even financial penalties imposed if repairs weren't carried out quickly. I was so happy to be involved with CDHA/ Hyde that I sat on several tenants boards both here in Brighton and down at Chichester. These meetings are now few and far between, and sadly I have resigned from all now. Some meetings have been repeated and results have changed nothing.Just how many new phone systems does it take to make calling easier....Just recently a neighbour locked herself out...and after an hour of calling the Chichester office she never did get through....it cost her £3.00+ on her mobile and eventually ended up having to go directly to the(Brighton) office in person.
The vast change in the quality of service as Hyde has grown is now very evident....in many ways. The staff who were once bursting with enthusiasm and positiveness are now looking glum, frustrated and frequently apologising when things aren't fixed.....this is now the norm.
Just recently I went to a HydeMartlet meeting arranged by post, on arrival the receptionist didn't even know about the meeting .When entering the meeting room there were no chairs put out ,and I did wonder if I had the wrong day.It transpired that Hyde now has it's own new posting/mail system in Lewisham....so it's not surprising that my 1st class return letter was lost .Instead of my letter staying in the Brighton area (Portslade- Brighton 3miles down the road) it was then diverted to the new mailing office in Lewisham this happened to all the return letters ....so the person who chaired the meeting presumed the meeting with no postal replies was not to be.
I can remember listening to the advice of a man involved in Asset Stripping...he said that to make the maximum profits you need to replace the staff with electronic systems.....well we all know what this means !!..and I do believe this is happening to Hyde now.I have now run out of space...but will continue on another occasion...Take care and good luck.
