Hi sdkb,

We received a reply from the Kent Homechoice about the website following your query.

They confirmed that it is not currently possible to search only for tenants who are only looking for the same property that you have i.e. maisonette. However, Locata, who run the site are enhancing this functionality very shortly so that you can. You should have access to this new and improved search function in the next month or so.

Thanks,
Sarah

Hi sdkb,

I'm glad you were able to log in successfully however sorry you have not found it of use.

My colleague has fed your comments back to KentHomechoice who run the website. I will let you know if they can offer any other assistance.

Best Wishes,
Sarah

Hi sdkb,

It will be Hyde who has to approve your registration details. This is normally completed on a regular basis, I have spoken to the Allocations department who are going to follow this up ASAP.

Thanks,
Sarah

Thanks for that Sarah. I have now been able to log in, I got my email a few days ago to say that it had been approved.

One thing I was hoping, after being able to log in, is to be able to search for tenant swaps with those people who are looking for the type of accommodation that you have available to swap. This isn't the case, so I am literally left to go back and forth through pages of people looking for swaps which I not relevant to me because they do not want a one bedroom maisonette on the outskirts of London.

I went through about 200 of the latest adverts, you cant open them in a new window or tab so you have to keep clicking the back button on your browser and finding where you left off. I have to say I spent about 2 hours on there looking and not one advert I looked at was after a one bedroom maisonette. It is far too time consuming to be useful to me in looking for a swap.
I feel quite disappointed about it.

kenthomchoice still won't let me login, it says it is pending my landlord approval. So who has to approve it Sarah, Hyde or Roundshaw homes?

Hi sdkb,

I'm just posting with an update about house exchange services in West Sussex area.

You can apply to join a register of local authorities in the West Sussex area, depending on which area you wish to go to. Some local authorities do expect you to have a local connection with the area (e.g. currently live or work in the area). If you don't have a connection then you may have lower priority than others.

In some areas there is also the option to apply online as well as by written form - it is worth checking the local authority websites for further information.

There is a choice based lettings scheme running in Sussex called Sussex Homemove. All details can be found online at: www.homemove.org.uk

Thanks,
Sarah

I registered for kenthomchoice but my login is not sorted yet. I did it last week and when I log in to it now it says my landlord has to approve my registration details. So I am still waiting for that to happen.

Thanks Sarah that is good info I had no idea I could bid on property in another council area. Is there something similar with west Sussex councils as we are looking for either west Kent or west Sussex areas? Many thanks for your help, in the meantime I will be registering with some Kent councils for home choice bidding. Keep up the good work Sarah

Hi sdkb,

Thank you for your enquiry.

There are three exchange sites that Hyde subscribes to, so you can register your property without charge. The three sites are:
www.hyde.houseexchange.org.uk
www.homeswapper.co.uk
www.kenthomechoice.org.uk/mx

Once registered, we will approve your application and you can then search for suitable matches. The three sites will cover all areas of Kent. Once you have found a suitable exchange partner you can then request application forms from our Customer Service Team.

If you are unable to find a suitable exchange partner you can register with the Local Authority in the area you wish to move to. All Local Authorities in Kent use choice based lettings system. Once you have been registered by the Local Authority you can bid on properties that are suitable for your needs.

The Local Authorities hold our transfer list for us. We can advertise one in four void properties, as preference will be given to Hyde Residents. This means that we will offer to the highest placed Hyde residents. The wording will be shown in the description of the property when advertised.

Please do contact us if you require further information.

I hope this helps?

Thanks,
Sarah

I have a one bed maisonette with garden at Roundshaw near Croydon looking for a 2 bed property to swap with in kent area.

Also, sarah, is it possible for tennants to move from one area to another in Hyde property via a Hyde relocation team or something? If nobody wants to swap homes with me what options or help can hyde offer me?
