I too am interested in downsizing. I didn't get much info or help. when I asked my Housing officer! I want to go somewhere very rural. probably, a hard to rent property. You'd think they'd want my large 3 bed house for a family.I've been looking on the homeswap sites for ages! That seems the ONLY option. Any empty properties have to be bid for. I think the old system, worked better!
Me neither Deb,Info on downsizing seems rather hard to come across,My housing officer never gets back to me either,I finally found an exchange and it's been worth the wait, only thing holding it back at present is my end,the other housing association sorted out their part weeks ago.. so frustrating ! I used Hydes exchange site and one called homeswappers which is linked to it and found them quite good,i had a few rural offers so keep at it,one came up suitable for me when i least expected it so you never know,I just hope she doesnt get too fed up waiting for my housing association

Hi alfadais,
Sorry for the delay, I have found out about your query.
Hyde does run a scheme for downsizing. The best option is to contact your local office to discuss this with your housing officer.
Your local office will be able to advise as to what options are available to you for downsizing. They will also be able to inform you of any other schemes available for downsizing that may be run by your local authority or other agencies.
I hope this helps with your question?
Thanks, Sarah

Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows whether Hyde offer a Downsizing scheme like most other Housing Associations ? I am overhoused and have been looking for a swap for about 8 months.A friend gave me a leaflet that she was given by her Housing association and i was quite impressed at the help they give you to find a downsized property.I have looked on the website but can't seem to find anything on there.i am with Hyde/minster. Thanks in advance for any help/info :0
