George, I have read posts from housing groups all over the country and few months back came into copntact with a site about another housing group knowingly and willingly taking part in allowing residents to take part in building vigal anti mobs to abuse residents that may not fit in to complex because of their sex, disability or because they just don't fit in and the housing officers refuses to visit because of some nasty rumour they may of heard in the community that was'nt of truth, coming from an old lag......................lol

Hi raymond76,

First of all, congratualtions to you and your partner for your good news! Party

You don't give any information about what area you live in, and how big the current property is.
I appreciate that it may be more difficult to deal with the upheaval of moving after the child is born.

However the criteria for consideration of a transfer to larger accommodation for extra bedroom under the Associations Policy is that:

Applications will not be accepted from pregnant mothers requesting larger accommodation until the child is born

In the meantime you can do the following to try to affect a move:

  • Register with the Local Authority and commence bidding through Choice Based Lettings (CBL)
  • Register and seek a move through a mutual exchange. Hyde participates in 2 schemes which are free to residents: House exchange and Homeswapper. They are both online services.
(You mentioned the exchange website was useless to you, but not which one you tried - maybe you'll have better luck with the other one.)

There are good reasons behind the existence of policies such as this - they have been decided upon in order to provide the best service possible to the largest number of people. Your Housing Officer should have more information about this and be able to help you out. Thumbs Up

my partner and i are expecting our first child in early november, i understand that its not ergent at this time, but it would be better if hyde would help to find us an oppropriate housing before the child is born... the exchange website is next to useless to us... why do we have to wait untill its too late?"after child is born" before hyde assist?
