Hi Cake Fairy,
Thanks for your post. I’m sorry to hear you are having ongoing problems with ASB.
If you would like to discuss your case with the ASB team further please contact me on 0203 207 2767 or email your name and contact details to residentengagement@hyde-housing.co.uk and I will ask someone from the team to contact you.
Hyde is currently looking at new ways, as you suggest, of offering more support to residents who are suffering from ASB.
We want to work with residents to improve the way we deal with ASB and develop new ways of offering more support.
In the New Year we would like to hold a series of focus group discussions with residents so they can help us to improve services. I wondered if this is something you would be interested in being involved with? It would be a good opportunity to share your views with members of the ASB team and to help contribute to improvements.
If you are keen to get involved please contact me using the details above.
Thanks, Sarah

I completely agree about the fancy leaflets! It is clearly stated in both the tenancy agreement and the ASB policy what is expected in regards of behaviour. Therefore, if someone blatantly disregards these agreements/policies, then they need to be dealt with firmly. No excuses and certainly do not treat the victim of the behaviour in a rude and uncaring manner. After suffering a 5 year ASB nightmare, I became actively involved in trying to support people with problem neighbours and it seems to be standard practice to either try and deter the person reporting the ASB by not keeping in contact with them or being so rude to them, that they give up. This applies to the police too. I feel now that only the toughest, most determined people stand any chance of being helped, leaving the weakest and most vulnerable people to suffer at the hands of the perpetrator. To see a problem sorted out to the end, the victim will have to work far too hard to make that happen. It's just not on really and needs sorting out. Everyone who has problems with ASB must keet on reporting it and make a formal complaint if they are not being served as promised in the leaflets/policies. Of course Hyde would be completely overwhelmed and would not be able to cope but ASB is rife in most social housing and is getting steadily worse. Until a firm message is given that it will not be tolerated, I think we can look forward to worse. There seems to be a new breed of tenant now who feels they are 'owed' a home and can act however they want in it and if you dare take offence to their terrible behaviour, rather than show any remorse, the chances are they will make you 'pay' for complaining.
My best advice to anyone suffering is to complain, complain, complain. If you are suffering from ASB as listed in the ASB policy and it is not being dealt with, you are perfectly within your rights to question why this is.
I did post on this forum about having a designated, well publicised section for ASB and harassment but no answer unfortunately!
In the meantime visit:
www.nfh.org.uk
There is a huge bunch of good people there who have all suffered with 'neighbours from hell' and will support you and offer advice.

I sit and watch something else destroyed almost every day. Whether it be another shrub pulled from the ground, a lighting sensor ripped from the wall or more serious vandalism such as the pulling up of an underground water pipe from the flower beds. The kids will run around swearing and cursing, playing football in areas where they should not be. Its horrendous. No matter how many emails and phone calls are sent there is very little in the way of response. I would like to think senior members from Hyde monitor these comments and would like to respond? I have used my genuine email account and name by the way. I second that!!! Hydes 'tough stance' towards ASB is just hot air and some fancy leaflets. The staff on the ground are unwilling, untrained or just plain scared to deal with ASB and it seems they quite quickly decide that ASB matters aren't ASB matters at all - despite those very same issues being listed in the tenancy agreement as ASB matters which have tough consequences. It's a shame really, when the property was managed by the council I didn't think the service was great - but boy do I MISS THOSE DAYS......they may have been slow but things DID GET DONE/SORTED

I must admit I did not think the move from council to the hyde group would be a good thing but I was wrong, the property has been improved, and the rent increases have been reasonable,I did have a problem with my garage account but this was corrected. The estate I live on has been cleaned up by Hyde workers, all rubbish removed and trees trimmed. Gordon do you work for Hyde? edited by Spunky69 on 07/11/2011

Hi Billy, I'm glad to hear you are happy with your property.
ASB is an issue we take seriously - just have a look at just one of the ways in which it was dealt with recently in link or here: link. Can you please tell me which area do you live in? I can then look into it further. Thanks, Sarah (Hyde Communications Team)

Last week Hyde said goodbye to a retiring Jobs and Training Adviser, Dr Edwin Sawacha. He helped over 3000 local residents in Brent, North London to gain employment and skills in the construction industry. Have you used any of Hyde's Jobs Plus services or received advice on how to get training, new skills or get a job or work experience? Did you find it useful? Please share your stories and help us improve the service.
