Hi just2fruity,

I am sorry to hear about your situation. From reading your post, you are already on the Local Authority register for a move under a band C. If you feel this is not a suitable banding, you can contact the local authority and discuss this with them. They can re-assess your banding if you have further information that they didn’t initially take into account.

From what you have written, I understand that two of your children live with you. This may mean you are not overcrowded as you are living in a two-bedroom, three or four person property, and you are a three person household.

Each Local authority has a housing options team, and you can make an appointment to see them, or Citizens Advice Bureau to get further options on your housing situation.

In addition you can register with our free mutual exchange web sites, these are accessed online, using www.hyde/houseexchange.org.uk, www.homeswapper.co.uk or www.kenthomechoice.co.uk/mx. You can search for suitable exchange partners and once you have found someone, please contact Hyde for the application forms. You can also put adverts in local shops etc in the area you wish to move to.

Hyde is obligated not to house you in an overcrowded property, so we would give you advice about moving, should you become overcrowded in the future. We also provide free mutual exchange registers for you to join. Our properties are advertised through the Local Authority and therefore all applicants are assessed the same, maintaining consistency and fairness.

Please contact your Housing Officer if you wish to discuss this further.

I have a problem with over crowding and currently have five children two under 3 and i have a 2 bedroom property with no garden bad buggy access meaning i have to leave one baby in the street while i take the other inside then go back for the first baby then leave both the kids unattended while i return for the buggy, i have to sleep in the lounge with them as nether bedroom is bug enough for two cots and i cant leave them downstairs alone. the property only has a front door so incase of a fire i cant get out, my two oldest children are having to live in hostels because i have no space and their dad kicked them out, I get very little sleep due to the cramped living conditions, have doctors notes to the homemove people, health visitors letters all stating this is an unacceptable way to live and causing severe depression due to my living conditions, does anyone know what hydes obligations are as landlords as they initially refered me to homemove who banded me category c and every property so far has gone to an a or b in the last two years. I cant handle living like this much longer and desperatly want to find a solution so i cant start enjoying my children like any normal mother.
