Hi Ginger & sdkb,
I have looked into this, sorry it has taken so long.
I can confirm our tenancy agreements and leases do not prevent shared owners and homeowners from running a business or working from home, so long as that tenant or leaseholder seeks our written permission first.
Hyde will not withhold permission for working from home unreasonably, and in most cases this permission will be granted. However on occasion Hyde may feel it reasonable to refuse or withdraw permission. These may include situations where running a business:
- Is likely to cause a nuisance to neighbours or damage to the property - Would require major adaptation of the property - Has not satisfied the requirements other relevant agencies, for example by obtaining planning permission or a CRB check
Each request is considered individually on a case-by-case basis and is very much dependent on the situation.
Do contact your local office if you would like advice about your specific situation.
I hope this information has been of use.
Thanks, Sarah edited by sarah on 07/10/2011
